Why Blekko is Grabbing the Attention of the Internet Users

All of us, who use the internet use search engines for various reasons. While Google is the first and almost automatic choice of most internet users, there are a few other search engines which have started making an impact by offering something different that what people are used to. Blekko is one such search engine which aims to be different by focusing on delivering high quality and relevant search results that are spam free.

The new search engine is gaining in popularity rapidly and for a handful of reasons. The first and most obvious reason is the improved index quality. The company recently announced a major upgrade that included a bigger index which has improved its long tail search results. Blekko has been making itself seen and heard quite prominently on trade shows and conventions. They had a significant presence at events such as SXSW, Blogworld Expo, and SMX conference.
Another major reason for the growing popularity of this ‘slashtags’ search engine is the closing down of Yahoo Site Explorer. Their SEO tools and data are suddenly in demand among those who were accustomed to using Yahoo Explorer. The growth as quoted in its internal analytics is more than impressive and shows a gain in unique IPs visiting the site by a whopping 337 percent.

Blekko is committed to quality search results and has systems in place to keep spam results away. They purposefully bias their index away from low quality content. Importantly, the search engine does not rely solely on link based authority. They rely on human beings and their judgment of the authority of sources to dictate search results.
