Blekko Continues Its Amazing Growth and Finds New Partners

The newly launched anti-spam search engine, Blekko, is reportedly averaging a million queries a day, which amounts to 10 to 15 queries per second. For a search engine that’s just months in existence, these figures are jaw-dropping. The secret, of course, are the Slashtags. These are topic tags which are appended by users to limit the search results to those that have been chosen by users as relevant and spam-free.

The company sees these figures as proof that Slashtags are catching up with users and pushing the search engine up the popularity charts quickly. The fact that users have got used to the new concept of a new search engine is indeed encouraging for the founders. Within just months of launch, hundreds of quality Slashtags has been created by Blekko users.

What adds to the potential of the new project is that the business model is designed to making the company profitable at one to two million queries per day. They have hit that figure faster than expected and are now looking at the larger end of the spectrum.

The search engine is committed in its quest to be a spam-free search engine and is trying to position itself as the safest to use as compared to Google and Bing. It continues to attract partners with amazing regularity.

Blekko recently joined hands with Lavasoft, the security software makers that detect spyware and adware on user’s PC. They will be the default search engine for Lavasoft’s software to detect whether a site on its search results is reliable or not.
